Meet Meleese Hoss

Mar 20, 2023 | HG Team, HG Updates & News

We were lucky to catch up with Meleese Hoss recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Meleese thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I was in search of more opportunity to lead, and make a difference. I had been on the team I currently worked for for 6 years and so I started there. I inquired and ultimately found there was no more room for growth. I also learned my values and that of the leader’s no longer aligned. I hit a ceiling there, and my heart was being called to do more. I am one of the most fortunate people I know in that I am rich beyond measure in, people. I have the most wonderful, supportive husband and group of friends in my life to which I know is rare and I am full of gratitude for their support and encouragement to bet on myself. So that’s what I did. I dreamt of leading a team of women who had like minds and like hearts. While I love doing business and making money just as much as the next human, I have a big soft spot for women who want to build bigger lives, who seek growth and lead with their hearts. I love the men in my life so very much, and this is not a he vs. she situation by any means. For me I love the woman to woman connection, the bonds of sisterhood, and the power behind kindness and generosity. With that in mind I set out to build a different kind of real estate team. The kind where the realtors you are working with are using real estate to build other careers, or achieve big life goals, and who also, like their clients, have families and real life experiences that they can then share and build lasting relationships and strongholds in their local communities. Nothing feeds my soul more than seeing someone I have poured into reach success and win in their lives. Next to my daughter and husband, it’s my world. One of the reasons I knew we would be successful on the business end of things was I choose to be innovative. I welcome change and growth, so it allows me to keep my eyes open and aware of new opportunities that can both set our team apart, and provide better service for our clients. Not long into starting HG, which mind you was December 2019, I found something special. No, it wasn’t the pandemic. One of my favorite realtors on the planet began working for a new start up, and I immediately dove in with her. Having this partnership has helped myself and my team offer services other agents either just don’t know about, or are not willing to embrace. We continue to grow and welcome new like minded women and are excited beyond measure for the future.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I grew up touring model homes for fun on the weekends with my mom. I just loved everything about a house, how people lived in them, the design, the décor, and the beauty that is owning your own home. After SMU, I began my career in new construction sales in Dallas, TX in 2006, a great time to get into real estate! While DFW didn’t see quite the same carnage as other parts of the country in 2007/2008, it was of course slower than normal. I managed to make 6 figures my first year, and got to know some of the most wonderful people I still talk to today! A people business where I can afford to live in this expensive ever inflating world on my own? Sign me up twice. I worked in new construction for 7 years before starting in real estate with a team at Keller Williams in Dallas. I was there until December 2019 before deciding to build my own team. I wanted to lead a team that starts with honesty, integrity, and trust, one that thinks outside the box, embraces innovation and change, leads with empathy and compassion and does far more than just real estate. So far, we are right on target! All team members are involved in our respective communities, and make giving back part of our mission. We differ from most other teams by partnering with other innovators and offering our clients a different way to buy and sell real estate, a much easier and more profitable way. When people work with us they have a whole team of support, and we make them, their lives, and their schedules the top priority.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

While we were off to a great start in 2019, 2020 got a little shaky. Since we had the time thanks to the pandemic my husband and I made the decision to do another round of IVF and were successful for the first time in 5 years. The happiest day of my life up till that point. Well, my first trimester was incredibly difficult with sickness and bedrest and so I was forced to pull back my work load. Any other team leader knows this I’m sure, at least I hope, but when you aren’t there or your presence isn’t felt it can take a toll on your people and their productivity. That’s exactly what happened. I ended up having to let two go and one quit. This happened from about October 2020-July 2021. Then, after I had my daughter I suffered post partum and was having a very difficult time doing anything other than caring for my new baby. My business took a hit. I had to take the necessary steps to get my health back in line or risk losing everything, so I did. Thanks to the support of my husband, and close circle, I pulled myself up, got to the doctor, started exercising, doing my affirmations, and getting myself back together again. Once I did, doors started opening and I started meeting the right women to take this journey with.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

Maiya Beeson is my brilliant, formidable, business partner. She and I worked together on the same previous team and it was love at first sight! We aligned on everything from horror movies to true crime, to how we treat others, and our goals for the future. I believe we all have multiple soulmates and she is one of mine. Aside from the personal, you have never met a more dedicated, loyal, harder working person. I didn’t hesitate for a second on hiring her to launch Hoss Group with me. There is no one I would rather be by my side.
